The Collection Management Division of ICS assists our clients with all aspects of the care, management and access to collections. We design and manage projects for and with organisations responsible for cultural collections, including:

  • gallery and museum collections
  • historical collections
  • art collections
  • archaeological collections
  • archival and library material

We draw upon our registration and conservation skills along with our knowledge of deterioration mechanisms and conservation strategies for most types of art, furniture and historic material to deliver wide-ranging services. Our team has experience in all facets of collection management including:

  • Planning - writing specifications for architects and designers to optimise environmental and storage conditions for cultural collections
  • Policy developing - collection management policies and guideline documents to implement policies
  • Documentation - reviewing, redesigning and managing documentation procedures and systems involved in collection management, such as digitisation procedures and collection management software utilisation
  • Information technology - working with IT companies to bring new and relevant technologies to the field of collection management (eg ‘Smart Tags´)
