ICS were appointed by Arts Victoria to undertake a comprehensive risk assessment to understand the current conditions in which the State's collections were being held. The assessment involved a review of 118 storage areas across 14 sites/buildings housing over 200,000 items from the major museums and galleries in Victoria. Workshops with key stakeholders were held in conjunction with the risk assessments.
The assessment examined all aspects of good storage practice, including environment, storage conditions, building stability, management practices and documentation procedures. Risk mitigation strategies were also provided following the risk assessment.
The risk assessment and evaluation was structured according to the principles of AS/NZS 4360 (now ISO 31000) on Risk Management.
