ICS was commissioned by the Federal Law Court of Australia to treat two large tapestries hanging in the Federal Law Courts in Sydney. One depicts 'The Trial' by Sidney Nolan, whilst the other is a depiction of the Australian Coat of Arms made by tapestry weaver Margaret Grafton. Both tapestries had accumulated a considerable layer of dust and dirt as a result of being on extended display. The tapestries were both cleaned: 'The Trial' was brush-vacuumed only due to the sensitive nature of the dyes, however the Coat of Arms was able to be brush-vacuumed and washed.
- Brush vacuum
- Aqueous wash
- Provide advice for re-hanging
- Re-hanging of tapestries in situ
