Archaeological Conservation

The First Government House site excavation in the early 1980s (on which now stands the Museum of Sydney) produced one of the richest huals of archaeological conservation material in the country, numbering some hundreds of thousands of artefacts. ICS were the archaeological consultants on the project, and worked with the site archaeologist to conserve these artefacts a number of years after the dig was completed. ICS continues to advise on the conservation of the in-situ remains, including the underfloor drains.

  • Conservation of archaeological material
  • Provision of advice for the care and maintenance of in-situ remains
  • Implementation of environmental monitoring program for the in-situ remains
