Our team has considerable experience in the design, fabrication, installation and management of all types of exhibitions, ranging from small displays in a single case through to large exhibitions with numerous cases and interpretive panels. For some exhibitions, we build on an Interpretation Plan or Strategy we have developed; for other exhibitions we will concentrate on a particular area or areas of the exhibition, such as designing and constructing exhibition mounts or developing content for text panels.
The exhibition work we undertake usually falls into one of two categories, Consulting or Conservation. In some cases it is a mix of both.
In our role as exhibition consultants, the work we undertake varies depending on your exhibition requirements and any constraints you may have. We can work with you to:
Design and develop exhibitions and displays, including development of exhibition briefs
Research and develop exhibition themes
Develop exhibition content, including text panels
Select and source works of art, objects and artefacts for exhibitions or displays
Identify, locate and inventory objects intended for use in exhibitions or displays
Organise and coordinate exhibition touring
Undertake environmental monitoring
We have a team of subcontractors with whom we work closely to ensure we deliver an engaging exhibition with maximum impact.
Our Materials Conservation team has extensive experience in the preparation of objects for exhibitions, ranging from a simple surface clean of objects intended for display through to the design, construction and installation of object supports. We can assist you with your exhibition by:
- Condition reporting objects intended for display
- Conserving objects for display
- Cleaning objects for display
- Designing and fabricating display mounts or cases and travelling cases
- Installing objects
- Implementing a long-term object maintenance and exhibition cleaning program
