ICS were appointed by Australian Parliament House (APH) to develop conservation plans for the 200 most important artworks (key elements) within the art collection. The APH collection numbers some 6,000 works of art including paintings, works of art on paper and art furniture. It is a highly valuable collection that is displayed throughout Parliament House to showcase Australian art, both in public places and in parliamentary offices and chambers. The Art Services department has a directive that all of its works of art should last 200 years, and in order to achieve this, ICS developed conservation plans for 200 key elements from the collection to allow an active management and conservation program for the ongoing care of the collection.
