Description

These two upholstered armchairs, original to Eryldene, had become extensively worn and dirty through years of use. The chairs had undergone previous restoration and upholstery replacement, during which time the upholstery had been replaced to a calico stage, that is without a decorative covering. The original fabric was in storage. There were several tears to the original fabric in the areas of frequent use, and one of the chairs was missing its castors.

Treatment

  • Aqueous wash to remove soiling from original fabric
  • Lining of original fabric with calico
  • Re-upholstery of chairs with original fabric
  • Re-attachment of existing original braid
  • Replacement of castors
  • Waxing of wooden legs
