ross sea artefacts conservation program

ICS are providing specialist technical support for the Ross Sea Artefact Conservation Program run by the NZ Antarctic Heritage Trust. The artefacts are the tangible relics of the expeditions of the Heroic Age of Antarctic exploration which ran from 1899 to 1917. more

ross sea heritage restoration project

The relics of the heroic exploration efforts of Scott and Shackleton have been ravaged by the Antarctic climate for the past century. This project, run by the NZ Antarctic Heritage Trust, will conserve the huts and artefacts at Cape Royds, Hut Point, Cape Adare and Cape Evans. more

Julian Bickersteth is a member of this scientific committee of ICOMOS, which concentrates on issues of preservation and protection of the history of exploration, research and exploitation in polar areas. more
